FLAVA is proud to offer several awards that recognize excellence in the field of world language education and advocacy. Applications due June 1:
The David Cox FLAVA Award for Excellence in World Language Teaching, K-12 – This award recognizes a world language educator in grades K-12 who has demonstrated excellence in world language instruction and who may be forwarded as the FLAVA candidate to either the SCOLT or NECTFL Teacher of the Year (TOY) competition and perhaps eventually to the ACTFL TOY competition.
The Marshall Brannon FLAVA Award for Excellence in World Language Teaching, Post-Secondary– This award recognizes a post-secondary world language educator who has demonstrated excellence in world language instruction and who may be forwarded as the FLAVA candidate to either the SCOLT or NECTFL Teacher of the Year (TOY) competition and perhaps eventually to the ACTFL TOY competition.
FLAVA Novice Teaching Award, K-12 – This award recognizes a world language teacher in grades K-12 who is an outstanding classroom teacher and demonstrates a love for language learning and teaching. The recipient must be in his/her first three years of classroom teaching
The Friend of FLAVA Award – The Friend of FLAVA Award recognizes individuals and institutions that have made a significant contribution in building a strong foundation of support for world language education.
University Student Recognition – FLAVA will honor up to five post-secondary language students who exemplify a keen interest in language.
Applications due February 28:
Future World Language Educator – VA– This award recognizes World Language students who show an interest in continuing their language study and becoming WL teachers.
