Dear Members of FLAVA, I hope this message finds you well. I’m reaching out to inform you about an important opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of the NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements. These statements, which are essential for guiding language proficiency and learning goals, are currently undergoing a revision process. Your feedback will play a crucial role in shaping the updated version. Below, you will find detailed information on how you can participate in providing input: Provide Feedback on Draft to Update the NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements The NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements undergo regular review and updating as part of the collaboration of these organizations. Originally published in 2012, NCSSFL and ACTFL completed the last revision to the Can-Do Statements in 2017, adding Intercultural Communication Can-Do Statements as well as clarifying and organizing the document. A core team has been working on the draft of a new update which is now ready for your feedback. You can provide input and comments two ways: (1) participate in small group discussions by attending one of three virtual Town Hall sessions in August or (2) provide individual feedback through an online survey. To register for one of three Town Hall Discussions (virtual via Zoom): Choose the date you are able to attend and register via the link provided: • August 13, 2024 (Tuesday, 7:00 – 8:00 PM EST) – Meeting Registration – Zoom • August 19, 2024 (Monday, 7:00 – 8:00 PM EST) – Meeting Registration – Zoom • August 22, 2024 (Thursday, 7:00 – 8:00 PM EST) – Meeting Registration – Zoom Participants will self-select a breakout room choosing one area for an extended discussion on Performance Indicators (Intercultural Communication, Interpretive Communication, Interpersonal Communication, and Presentational Communication); all breakout rooms will first review and comment on the Proficiency Benchmarks for all four areas. To provide individual comments/feedback: Use this link to provide your input via a Google form, where you will be able to access a read-only version of the draft of the NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements. NCSSFL and ACTFL are grateful for your interest and participation to shape the final version of this update to the NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements. Thank you for your attention to this important matter and for your continued dedication to advancing our field. Best regards, Eric Jaworski FLAVA President |
