Hello, FLAVA.

Dick Kuettner here, once again, to encourage you to –

 

1. Register for the virtual FLAVA fall conference – ONE VIRGINIA, Many Languages – to be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, October 7, 8, and 9, 2021. Conference registration is only $75, and it includes your annual membership. Sounds like a pretty good deal since you will also be getting access to more than 100 sessions, vendors, sharing times, meetings, and election and award presentations. All sessions and meetings will be recorded, but you have to register for the conference to have access to any part of the program. This is a perfect time and an efficient means for acquiring the professional growth necessary to support your career in education.

 

2. Submit a proposal to the joint SCOLT/FLAVA/SEALLT spring conference – INCLUSION Is About US All – to be held in our own Norfolk, Virginia, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, March 31, April 1, 2, 2022. This is an excellent opportunity to share your wares with language educators in the southern and mid-Atlantic regions of the USA. This joint conference is a call to reflect upon what we teach, why we teach it, how we teach it, and for whom we teach it. It’s about us all! Submit your proposal today. The proposal deadline is October 15, 2021. Don’t procrastinate; it won’t get you anywhere.

 

The trend today is to handle things through executive order. Fear not. I won’t go to that extreme, but I really wish you would register for the FLAVA fall conference and submit a proposal to the joint spring SCOLT/FLAVA/SEALLT conference for which we are a sponsor!
