Message from the President – April 2022

Greetings, FLAVA!

I hope each of you are or will soon be enjoying your much deserved spring break!

First off, I cannot thank each of you enough for all you did to support SCOLT 2022! The SCOLT Board of Directors was so impressed with FLAVA and all that we did to make the conference a success! A big thank you goes to each of you who presented a session or a workshop at SCOLT. I am also grateful to all of you who volunteered throughout the conference. Your help and support was appreciated by all.

Congratulations to Dr. Dali Tan who represented FLAVA so eloquently as our Teacher of Year nominee at SCOLT. We are extremely proud of Dr. Tan!

Congratulations to Jihye Moon and Young Jung who represented FLAVA so well at SCOLT with their Best of FLAVA session, Implementing Film Projects into Language Classrooms.

It’s now time for YOUR help! It’s time to…

  1. Nominate a colleague or a college/university student for one of the many FLAVA Awards. The deadline is May 1, 2022! Nomination information can be found here: https://flavaweb.org/awards/

I loved seeing so many of you at SCOLT 2022 and appreciated all of your hugs and kind words. I hope that spring break can be a time for you to unplug, rest, and recharge. If there is anything FLAVA can do to support you or your students, please do not hesitate to reach out at any time. I truly appreciate each of you and all that you do for World Languages in VA and beyond!

With much appreciation,

Heidi Trude
