Message from the President – March 2022

Message from the President – March 2022

Greetings, FLAVA members!

I hope you all are taking advantage of the beautiful spring weather!

First off, I cannot thank each of you enough for all you did to advocate for World Languages. It’s because of each of you that we were able to defeat House Bill 340. I would like to especially thank Sharon Scinicariello and her Advocacy Team for all their hard work and dedication this legislative season. Please take a few minutes and send each of the VA Senators who supported World Languages a thank you message.

Congratulations to Beth Marshall who represented FLAVA so well at NECTFL with her Best of FLAVA session, Developing Cultural Competence Through Interdisciplinary Units.

It’s now time for YOUR help! It’s time to…

1.) ATTEND SCOLT 2022: Inclusion is About Us ALL in Norfolk, VA! As you may know, FLAVA is the co-host of the SCOLT 2022 and we want to SEE all of YOU there in person for this AMAZING Conference! I am so looking forward to seeing so many of you at SCOLT 2022 in a few weeks! If there is anything FLAVA can do to support you or your students, please do not hesitate to reach out at any time. I truly appreciate each of you and all that you do for World Languages in VA and beyond!
