MAALLT Tech Slam “Latin It Up!” – Event Recap & Recording
The Mid-Atlantic Association of Language Learning Technology (MAALLT) is delighted to share that our Tech Slam, “Latin It Up!”, held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, was a great success! Co-sponsored by FLAVA, the Foreign Language Association of Virginia, the event brought together educators and technologists for an energetic hour of idea-sharing, inspiration, and community.
Our Tech Slam—modeled after a poetry slam but focused on rapid-fire tech showcases—featured a series of engaging 5-minute micro-presentations on innovative tools and practices that support language learning. In tribute to our dear colleague Shirley Hall, who passed away earlier this year, many of the presentations highlighted creative ways technology can enhance the teaching and learning of Latin. We also heard impactful demonstrations related to language education more broadly, all centered on thoughtful, effective uses of technology.
Presenters introduced their favorite tools, demonstrated classroom applications, and shared reflections on how technology can benefit both teachers and learners. The evening concluded with a lively Q&A session.
If you were unable to attend or would like to revisit the presentations, the recording is now available here:

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this Tech Slam memorable.
Best wishes,
Errol M. O’Neill and the MAALLT Board
