Dear FLAVA Members,
On June 7, 2019, the Executive Board received a letter of resignation from President-elect Dr. Bettina Staudt, who asked that from that date she be relieved of her duties and responsibilities.
As President, I called a meeting of the remaining board members to discuss the next steps for the organization. In accordance with the FLAVA Constitution and past historical practice, Dr. Dick Kuettner, the Immediate Past President, has agreed to fulfill the remaining obligations for the President-elect position and will become FLAVA President for a two-year period starting on January 1, 2020.
This will enable FLAVA to continue to serve you with efficiency and proven leadership. The board thanks Dr. Staudt for her years of service and wishes Dr. Kuettner much success as he takes over the presidency in 2020.
As always, I am grateful for what each of you does on a daily basis for world language programs throughout the Commonwealth, and I remain in awe of your dedication and enthusiasm.
Wishing you a fabulous summer,
President, Foreign Language Association of Virginia
